Godaddy Cpanel Email – Can Send But Not Receive

We had a customer discontinue their email package from Godaddy and started to just use the CPanel email. A week later customer wasn’t receiving emails. I could login in to the webmail and send, but I couldn’t receive.

The issue was with the DNS and the mail record. The MX had 2 records and the 2 CName had two mail records that needed to be deleted and a MX & an A record needed to be added.

Here is the link I got from Godaddy that gave me the settings I needed.

You can quickly access your DNS in a Godaddy account by going to https://dcc.secureserver.net.

Set Up Office 365 Email Account In Office 2007

We have a customer with Office 2007 and needed to set up an Office 365 account. Auto Discover was looking for the server, so I put in “outlook.office.com

The following web link gave great detailed instructions for manually configuring the mail server.

The real ticket was manually configuring the email server.

VIPRE – A problem has occurred in VIPRE Threat Scanner

We had a customer who was having VIPRE pop ups. Here is a screenshot of what they were getting.

I contacted VIPRE and they knew right a way how to fix it. They said it was a bad definition that came down in early February. The fix is to download a small file that will remove the old definitions and restart the agent.  Here is the link they sent us.

https://homesupport.vipre.com/support/solutions/articles/1000259870-vipre-alert-2-6-2018-problem-has-occurred-in-vipre-scanning-engine-or-vipre-threat-scanner

I ran the executable which only took few minutes and I got a popup saying VIPRE was my antivirus. I could see in the VIPRE Console on the server that the definitions were updating, so the Console and the agent were communicating again.

Windows 10 – Mouse Keyboard Not Working Or Auto Repair Loop

We have had a number of calls regarding a number of issues with Windows 10 machines. It started the week of February 13, 2018. We had three calls for Windows 10 machines that were in an Automatic Repair Loop. We ended up having to do a Reset on a few machines and reinstall their software. Other machines we did a complete reinstall of the OS.

A week later we got calls for mouse and keyboard not working. We were able to find other users on the Net having the same issues after a Windows 10 update. At least these users were able to get into Windows. Some users had a completely black screen so they couldn’t interface with the computer. For these users we were able to do a system restore to a point before the update.

Our tech Corie discovered the update KB4074588 seems to be the main issue. We had Surface Pro 4 that the Keyboard and Mouse won’t work no matter what we did, but removing this update got the mouse and keyboard working again. In the Device Manager remove any devices that have yellow triangle. Restart Windows and Windows should put back some default drivers for the devices.

After we removed the update we used the following link from Microsoft to hide the update.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3183922/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-windows-update-from-reinstalling-in-windo

We did find an extensive discussion about this topic on Bleeping Computers Forum. Here is the link to that thread.

Godaddy Office 365 Email Setup With Office 2010

I had to install an older copy of Office 2010 Pro Plus on a Windows 10 machine that got reset because Windows Automatic Repair was stuck in loop.

I installed Office and started with adding their Godaddy Office 365 account into Outlook. During the install I ran into error 1719, but got past it. Here is how I did it. Fix error 1719.

Outlook couldn’t just set up the email. Godaddy has a program specific to setting up their Office 365.  I found the program here.

https://www.godaddy.com/help/outlook-setup-assistant-windows-set-up-email-automatically-19938

The program ran into  issues.

When I tried to run their link “Open Office Setup” I got the following error.

I needed to upgrade the Outlook 2010. This lead me to this page.

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/office-updates-a118ec61-f007-492f-bfa5-5a6f764d5471?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

I downloaded and ran the update “KB 2687521“.  After I ran the update I ran the Godaddy assistant again and I got this error.

This time when I clicked to “Open Office Setup” the setup opened and ran. Outlook opened and I was able to get the two email accounts set up.

Windows 10 – Reinstall Office 2010 – Error 1719

Had a customer that needed their older version of Office Pro Plus 2010 reinstalled. During the installation I got the following error.

The error lead me to the following Microsoft support page.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2642495/the-windows-installer-service-could-not-be-accessed-error-when-you-try

I used Method 1 and was successful. Make sure to include the following line at the top of the Registry entry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Not Receiving Emails In Office 365 – After My Mailbox Was Compromised.

We had a customer get their Office 365 email account compromised / attacked. The password was reset and the user could send email she just didn’t receive them.

I went into her online Office 365 account and verified the issue. This page lead me to the fix.

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Find-and-fix-email-delivery-issues-as-an-Office-365-for-business-admin-e7758b99-1896-41db-bf39-51e2dba21de6

Their advice to check the mail flow helped me solve the issue.

You need to go into the individuals account and click on the setting gear icon in the upper-right:

Scroll down to “Your App Settings” and click on “Mail”.

On the left-hand side menu, in the “mail” section, click on “Inbox and sweep rules”.  Go through the rules to see if there is a rule that is causing your issue.

The attacker set up a rule for the emails to go to the “deleted” folder. A common practice.

CSS Warp Text

Working on a new project I wanted to create a badge that would have warped text with a dynamic date. It would be a flag with the text of how long the company has been in business. They started in 1997 and I used PHP to get the current year and display in the warped text.

This site helped me accomplish this.

I took a little bit to understand how it sets the position, but when you understand it this site is incredibly helpful.
